Sandy's fan Margie Fairchild remembers Sandy's Mansfield, Ohio location! Located at 1090 Park Avenue, Mansfield was location #43 and is a special Sandy's because it remained Sandy's after Hardees bought out the chain in 1973! 10% of Sandy's did not become Hardees in 1973 and it is unknown how long Mansfield remained Sandy's. If you have access to the Mansfield High School yearbooks, which are usually in the local public library, from 1963 thru 1974 and maybe beyond, please check the business sponsor section and see if there are pictures of Sandy's Mansfield. It would be great to add those pictures to this website! Today in 2007, 1090 Park Ave. W, is listed on the internet as Mansfield Restaurant. It is not known if the original Sandy's building was leveled or if the classic Sandy's wooden beams still exist embedded within the restaurant!
I am in my 50's now but have fond memories of often saving my daily lunch money when I was in junior high school. After a long day at school there was nothing better than stopping at Sandy's as we stepped off the schoolbus at our bus stop. the location was Park ave. in Mansfield, Ohio. The years were 1967-1969. Unfortunately I don't remember the year it closed. I do remember what fun we had sneaking to Sandy's though because money was tight for my mother. She would not have wanted us to go all day at school without eating just so we could splurge at Sandy's. Sometime later the beautiful walk-up restaurant with the familiar lassie disappeared only to be replaced with an uninteresting gas station called Clark. I was so pleasantly surprized to find this website and happy to know someone cared enough to keep the memory alive.
Thank you! - Margie
